CMRA Supporting Two Federal Bills to Stop NHSM Rule

Senate Bill 1392 and House Bill 2250 are two pieces of legislation currently going through the U.S. Congress that have earned the name of EPA Regulatory Relief Act because the bills will allow the use of a variety of industrial materials as fuel products.
They would revise the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s recently promulgated Non Hazardous Secondary Materials Rule (NHSM) that will severely limit the use of industrial materials such as C&D biomass into boilers. Sponsors have been lining up for both bills, but there is still a need for more grassroots support for the bills (See President’s Page, p. 48).
