Energy Answers International has received all key permits for its private development of the Fairfield Renewable Energy Project in Baltimore, Md. FMC Corporation will remain as the owner of the property, and will continue to handle monitoring and remediation at the brownfield site. A kick off event to celebrate the passing of the permit barrier was recently held.
Construction on the Fairfield project will begin in December 2010. While the facility will mostly run on MSW, a small percentage of its incoming fuel will be C&D wood biomass. According to Energy Answers, the project offers many benefits to the existing industrial site, including: 300 to 400 peak construction jobs over a three-year period; 180 permanent jobs when the power plant is complete in December 2013; renewable, sustainable and environmentally sound energy generation; and implementation of a patented, proven and award-winning Resource Recovery technology.
Energy Answers International is developing the Fairfield Renewable Energy Power Plant on the industrial-zoned, former FMC site located on the Fairfield Peninsula in Baltimore. The 140 mw combined heat and power plant is designed to provide wholesale energy to help meet regional demands, as well as reduced priced retail energy as an attraction for energy intensive industries to co-locate at an Eco-Industrial Park to be developed on the 90-acre brownfield site.
