ABC acquires major assets

ABC Disposal Service, Inc., New Bedford, MA, is has acquired the Southeastern Massachusetts roll-off business of United Waste Management, headquartered in Boston, MA. This acquisition increases ABC's roll-off division presence throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Rhode Island.

In addition, New Bedford Waste Services, LLC (NBWS), a sister company of ABC, has acquired two Massachusetts transfer stations from United Waste Management: the Rochester Environmental Park, an 890-tpd municipal solid waste and C&D processing facility and transfer station, and Sandwich Resource Recovery, a 625-tpd C&D transfer station.

"Combining the capabilities of these transfer stations with our current 1,500-tpd limit allows New Bedford Waste Services to efficiently manage as many as 3,015 tons of materials each day," said Vice President and General Manager Michael Camara, "These two facilities improve our ability to process a larger percentage of materials which can then be recycled and reused."

Along with processing and recycling C & D debris, NBWS is permitted to transfer municipal solid waste for final disposal at various landfills and trash-to-energy plants. These additional services to the Southeastern Massachusetts communities have greatly benefited the residents and other disposal companies in the surrounding area with economy of production.
